100,000 youth to be trained under PM Youth Skills Program

ISLAMABAD, Nov 2 (APP): National Vocational & Technical
Training Commission(NAVTTC) will train 100,000 young boys and
girls in the most demand driven trades under Prime Minister’s Youth
Skill Development Phase-IV.
Executive Director NAVTTC Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema told APP on
Wednesday that earlier NAVTTC was giving training to 50,000 male,
female students in different trade sectors.
He stressed upon the need of engaging media in creating
awareness among the public regarding the activities of NAVTTC.
NAVTTC, he said, has shifted towards demand driven training
and is imparting training in marketable skills.
He said NAVTTC has introduced a new skill assessment system at
par with the international standards through which ninety percent of
exam would be based on practical test and the rest on interview.
Out of the three assessors, two would be industrial experts.
Moreover, NAVTTC’s certificate would be the key to employment
for our trained at both the domestic and international market, he
said.
Cheema said the NAVTTC was taking initiatives for increasing
employability of the youth.
Steps would be taken to transform National Training Bureau
(NTB) into a modem state of the art vocational and technical
institute on the lines of international institutes, he added.
He informed that 1000 male and female trainees would be
trained in seventeen modern skills, with the assistance of Italy
under skill development of youth of KPK and FATA through Donor’s
Special Initiative.
Moreover, with the help of Korea, four most demanded courses
will be conducted at SDC, Merabagwal, cheema added.
